Alaska Guide School: Level 1 Heliguide



The Level 1 Heliguide course will include discussions and text from the Risk Management, Operating, and Safety Plan for Alaska Heliskiing, LLC.

Your role and duties as a Level 1 Heliski-guide will be read, explained, and demonstrated and the procedures for many sorts of incidents which may occur will be discussed. Your legal responsibilites as a helicopter ski guide in Alaska will be read and explained.

At the end of this course you will be issued a certification of completion of the course if you have succesfully completed all segments of the Alaska Guide School Level 1 Heli-guide course.

The certification portion of your training will then be over. At this point you will be considered for a guide trainee and must attend at least 10 commercially guided t ours before being allowed to guide. Your real training begins when the guide course is over! You will need to learn through experience how to guide clients in Alaska's vast wilderness.

It is mandatory for anyone interested in becoming a guide for Alaska Heliskiing to complete our guide school program and continue with training in the field and ground operations. We offer a work program to qualified guide school graduates that is designed to provide further training in the operations of a heliskiing company and that of a guide position. These opportunities are limited and are offered to some but possibly not all guide school graduates. If you are interested in filling one of these positions, please let us know before guide school begins and we will consider your interest throughout the school. It takes a lot of skills and training to be a heliskiing guide, but if you have the will and the ability and wish to pursue this a goal in your life, the Alaska Heliskiing Guide School is one of the best ways to start.
