Textbooks
Handouts and the Wilderness Associates Field Guide, The Outward Bound Wilderness First Aid Handbook, and Soap notes are included in the cost of the course.
Completion, Grades, and Cerification
These are based on attendance (100%), course participation, performance both written and practical final exams. To pass, students must have a cumulative average of 80% or better.
Using the wafa as a recertification option
The WAFA may be used as a recertification option for those with a current WMA Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness EMT certification. Contact the Wilderess Medical Associates for details.
Standards
The WAFA course meets or exceeds all reuirements of other similarly houred courses.
Recertification
Graduates may recertify with a two day Recertification course or a three day Challenge course.

Course Structure
36 Hours over four days. Mornings are devoted to lectures and exams. Afternoons are devoted to practical hands-on sessions and video taped simulations. Expect one or two rescue simulations with made-up victims and stage blood that will be video taped for enhanced learning. Evenings are reserved for study and assignments.
*Students must be at least 16 to participate in this course. 16 and 17 year olds must have written permission from parents or guardian.
